STUDIO POLICY


We are honored to have the opportunity to teach your child.  Our teaching staff is committed to providing families with an exceptional experience at lessons.  If you have any questions, please contact us!   


 

  1. STUDENTS:  
    a. Make practicing a part of your daily routine.  
     b. Check assignment before daily practice. c. Arrive 5 minutes early to settle down, prepared for your lesson with a good attitude & smile!    
    c. Listen, be respectful, follow directions.    
    d. Be prepared for, and participate in at least 1 MTM Piano performance or recital a year (exceptions considered).    
    e. Complete assignments as given.    
    f. Ask questions, be curious, show initiative, have fun!    
    g. Enjoy your opportunity to learn! Lessons are a privilege.  
  2.  PARENTS:    
  3. a.  Ensure your child is well rested and fed.    
    b. Provide a quality, tuned instrument.    
    c. Provide a quiet practice area at home.    
    d. Help your child arrive 5 minutes early for lessons.    
    e. Follow attendance and tuition policies.    
    f. Encourage your child to be responsible for their own lesson materials to be brought to lessons.    
    g. Participate in lessons, taking notes -or- read & review teacher’s notes after lessons if unable to attend.  
    h. Assist young children with daily practice at home.  
    i. Communicate with teacher at end of  lesson, not during the lesson. We encourage parents to always feel free to call teachers directly and actively talk, brainstorm & set goals to ensure your child’s progress.    
    j. Never compare your child to other children and provide unconditional support, celebrating small successes with praise and encouragement.      
  4. ATTENDANCE & CANCELLATION POLICY:  
    a. Consistent attendance is expected. Your lesson time is reserved on your teacher’s calendar exclusively for you and tuition applies regardless of attendance.    
    b. If student does not attend their reserved lesson for any reason, that lesson is lost and reimbursement will not occur. Emergencies are the only exception.  
    c. No reimbursements are given for illness, canceled or missed lessons.    
    d. Parents may contact another MTM Piano parent and “swap” a lesson time if desired (in studio) only.    
    e. If absences become habitual (5+ per semester) or if 3 cancellations are made under a 24 hour window per semester, student maybe placed on Probationary Status. Teacher will notify parent and if improvements are not made, studio may opt to terminate instruction. Emergencies are taken into consideration.  
    f. Tardiness: Teachers are under no obligation to extend lesson time if student arrives late. If tardiness persists, student will be placed on Probationary Status for 30-60 days.    
    g. Let’s all work together to guard one another’s investment of time, energy and finances in one another and communicate as early as possible! 
  5. h. Cancellations Due to Inclement Weather: (Snow, ice, freezing rain, etc.)

                MTM Piano seldom closes for weather. If you are uncertain if MTM Piano is open,

please call.

  

  1.  TUITION & PAYMENTS :  
    a.   Rates: Tuition is billed monthly on the 1st day of the month and is due on or before the 15th of each month.  
    b.   Invoices are delivered via email to parents on the 1st of each month.  Parents are expected to review invoice which contain dates of upcoming lessons. If you do not receive a monthly statement by the 3rd , please contact MTM Piano, Email: mtmpiano@gmail.com ph:616-302-7470 .  
    c. Books & Materials for students are purchased at parent’s expense. If materials are purchased by the teacher for you, they will be added to your following month’s statement. This may include: lesson books, flash cards, achievement trophies and medals, registration fees for festivals and competitions, t-shirts, DVDs.  
    d. Event/Recital Fees : are included in your monthly tuition.  
    e. Payment option: Online payments can be made directly from your invoice (credit or bankcard).Checks may be delivered to lessons at MTM Piano or other studios should be payable to “MTM Piano” on or before the 15th .    
    f. Delinquent accounts : a $10 late fee is applied to all accounts not paid by 15 th  of the month. A revised statement will be emailed at the time with the new amount due.  
    g. Thirty Day Notice of Cancellation: If a student must discontinue lessons during the school year for any reason, a written, 30-day notice is required to terminate this contract. As a courtesy to the instructors whose income depends on lesson commitments, payment is due during this 30 day period whether or not lessons are taken.    
    h.  Termination of Lessons due to nonpayment of tuition : Any account 60 days overdue will result in termination .      
  2. BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS   

a. If a student displays behavioral issues that renders them unable to take instruction or benefit from the lesson, teacher will meet with parents who may be asked to sit with child during lessons to supervise.  

b. If behavioral issues persist, student may be placed on probationary status or as a last resort, instruction terminated. 

c. Lessons at Home: should MTM Piano instructor be traveling to your home for lessons, students will be present and prepared for their lesson at the assigned time.  A quiet environment in which to teach shall be provided for the teacher with no interruptions.  

  

7.PARENT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT  

a. Photo permission: Should my child’s photo be taken at a recital or concert, I hereby give permission for same to be used by MTM Piano in their marketing materials or social media. My child’s last name will not appear in print on any internet or printed materials.  

b. Acknowledgment of policies: I have read these policies with my child(ren), understand them and agree to abide by them so long as we are studying music at/with MTM Piano.
